Description:

This session deals with numerical modeling and computational analysis of the degradation, fracture and failure of solid materials and composites at different scales of observation. Topics of interest include the multiscale analysis of failure mechanics, constitutive formulations based on both discrete and smeared crack approaches, numerical procedures, finite element technology, localized failure analysis, mesh objectivity, and coupled failure analysis. The comparison between computational and experimental results is of high interest as well as the correlation between the constitutive formulations and the physical phenomena. The main objective of this session is the open and deep discussions of all different aspects involved in the computational analysis of material fracture and failure.
